The garment “Inheritance” represents shared generational family experience.  The body of the dress acts as a support for the neckpiece that displays metaphorical flowering.  Treasured handmade doilies inherited from my grandmother and mother, were deconstructed and reconstructed incorporating hand-dyed silk. The unique and individual blooms combine past with present.  Each thread used to reassemble the doilies is representational of the strands of our DNA that bind us together. It is a visualisation, celebration and marriage of the craft and skills passed down by the women of my family from one generation to the next.
